Our youngest patients can choose from a wide range of teeth-straightening treatments, including colourful fixed braces and discreet clear aligners.

Fixed braces have always been a popular choice for children and teens. They’re cost-effective and excellent at aligning teeth.

Invisalign straightens teeth using virtually invisible, removable aligners. It’s suitable for all ages and loved by children, teenagers and adults.

We love it too, for its fantastic results and seamless experience.

How it works

Child with Invisalign alignerInvisalign straightens teeth using a series of custom-made aligners. Your child will need to wear each set of aligners for 1–2 weeks.

Before we start your child’s treatment, we’ll show you a 3D preview of how their smile will take shape at every aligner change. Specialist orthodontist Dr. Jackie Bracken will adjust their treatment plan to make sure everyone’s excited for the projected outcome before we manufacture the aligners.

Your child will need to wear their aligners for 20–22 hours a day. Only taking them out to eat, drink, brush and floss. They should also remove them for contact sports. (We can provide a custom-made gumshield to protect their teeth.)

Custom-made for your child’s smile

Invisalign aligners are incredibly capable, and thanks to recent innovations they can rival the precision and control of fixed braces.

Here are some of the special features that make Invisalign the leading clear aligner system for children and teens.

Digital scanning technology

Using our iTero scanner, we’ll take precise impressions of your child’s teeth and jaws, which we’ll use to plan their treatment and manufacture their custom-made aligners.

Advanced scanning provides predictable results and comfortable aligners that fit perfectly.

Blue wear indicators

Invisalign aligners can include optional blue wear indicators, which fade over time with wear. They’re a simple way to monitor compliance and ensure your child is wearing their aligners consistently.

SmartTrack material

Invisalign is made of SmartTrack material, which is based on eight years of research and development.

This unique material improves control and applies gentle, constant forces to your child’s teeth. Their aligners will fit snugly around their teeth with smooth contours for added comfort.

SmartForce attachments

To help us achieve complex movements, we can fit small SmartForce attachments to specific teeth.

These tooth-coloured attachments act as tiny handles to help the aligners apply the right amount of force in the right direction. They’re very discreet and easy to fit and remove.

Precision wings

Invisalign’s mandibular advancement feature allows us to correct overbites using clear aligners. Precision wings gradually bring the lower jaw forward to improve the bite and facial profile.

Invisalign or fixed braces?

We’ll go through all your child’s treatment options during their consultation with Dr. Jackie Bracken. Sometimes, we might recommend a particular brace, but most patients can choose between Invisalign and fixed braces.

Here are some things to consider when weighing up your options:

  • Will your child be committed to wearing clear aligners for at least 20 hours every day? If they don’t wear them as instructed, they won’t see results.
  • Will they be able to maintain healthy teeth and gums throughout their treatment? Removable aligners make brushing and flossing a breeze.
  • Will they keep their aligners safe? If they repeatedly go missing it could prolong their treatment, and there may be a charge for replacements.
  • Will they feel more confident in clear aligners? And did you know we also offer clear fixed braces?

We’re here to help you choose the right treatment for your child’s smile and lifestyle. Take the first step and contact us to arrange a no-obligation consultation.

We recommend bringing your child to see us between the ages for 8 and 10, so we can plan their treatment at the optimum time.
