Clear fixed braces

You’re probably familiar with metal braces, but did you know they can also feature clear ceramic brackets? It’s a small change that can make a big difference. Your braces will blend in with your teeth, whatever their shade.

Why clear braces?

  • Fixed braces are fantastic at straightening teeth
  • They can treat the most challenging cases
  • We can make straightforward changes in months
  • Clear brackets provide a subtle alternative to metal
  • They’re stain-resistant and designed for comfort
  • You can customise your braces with colourful elastic ligatures
  • We’ll preview your future smile at your consultation

Who can benefit from clear braces?

Clear fixed braces are suitable for everyone: children, teens and adults. Just like metal braces, they can tackle complex cases as efficiently as simple corrections.

With their help, we can transform crooked teeth, gaps and spaces, twisted and rotated teeth and even bite problems. If you’re bothered by crowded or widely spaced front teeth, your treatment could be completed in less than 12 months.

Clear braces are far less conspicuous than metal braces. They’re very subtle, but you can still see them. If you’re looking for something that’s virtually invisible, Invisalign aligners are a fantastic option.

Your first appointment

If you’re ready to find out more about braces and how they can benefit you, we’d be thrilled to see you for a consultation in Clonmel or Newbridge. Specialist orthodontist Dr. Jackie Bracken will provide you with expert advice and answer all your questions about orthodontics.

During your first appointment, Jackie will examine your teeth to see which treatments you’re suitable for. We’ll even show you how good your smile could look after braces with the help of our digital scanner and 3D software.

We’ll show you other patients who have benefitted from fixed braces, and you’ll be able to see our clear brackets up close.

Getting started

Your braces will be fitted over one or two appointments. We’ll expertly attach a ceramic bracket to each tooth and join them together with stainless steel archwires.

Your archwires will be secured by clips or small elastic ligatures. Choose discreet white or clear – or brighten up your smile with a rainbow assortment of colours. You’ll be able to choose a different colour each time we change your archwires.

Once we’ve fitted your braces, we’ll show you how to keep them clean and explain what to expect over the next few days.

Your brackets might irritate the inside of your cheeks at first. You will adjust, but in the meantime, you can apply wax to any sharp areas. It’s also normal for your teeth to ache as they start to move. You can take over-the-counter pain killers to help.

How clear braces work

We use Clarity ADVANCED and Clarity Ultra clear braces. Not only are they crystal clear, but they’re low-profile with rounded corners to reduce rubbing.

Your braces will start working straight away and keep working throughout your treatment. It won’t be long until you see your new smile taking form.

During your treatment, your archwires will guide your brackets and teeth into position. We’ll see you every 6–8 weeks to review your progress and make regular adjustments to your teeth and braces.

If we need to improve the way your teeth bite together, we might give you some elastic bands to wear towards the end of your treatment. They’ll gently align your jaws, completing your transformation.

When your smile is ready for its debut, we’ll remove your braces and fit fixed and/or removable retainers. Your retainers will stop your teeth from moving and keep your results looking amazing. You’ll receive 12 months of follow-up care, including check-ups with our team.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my treatment take?
Most patients complete their orthodontic treatment within 12–18 months. Simple adjustments can take half this time. We'll give you a more accurate estimate at your consultation.
How much do clear braces cost?
Clear braces cost €4,950. Our prices include your treatment and aftercare, with no hidden surprises.
Do you offer interest-free finance?
Yes, we offer weekly and monthly interest-free payment plans. Your consultation will include a comprehensive quote and all your payment options.
Are clear braces uncomfortable?
Your teeth might ache, and your braces could irritate your cheeks at first. After a few days, your mouth will adapt. We’ll make sure you’re prepared and share some tips to minimise any discomfort.
Will I be able to clean my teeth easily?
You’ll need to clean carefully around your braces to keep your teeth healthy. We’ll show you how to floss underneath your wires and brush around your brackets.
Will I need to see my dentist for check-ups?
Yes, it’s even more important to see your dentist during orthodontic treatment. If you don’t look after your teeth, you could experience permanent discolouration.
Will I be able to eat and drink as usual?
You’ll be able to eat most things, but you may need to cut them up into bite-sized pieces first. Avoid biting into anything tough, chewy or sticky. It could bend your archwire or break off a bracket. We also recommend reducing your sugar intake to keep your teeth healthy.
