Clear or metal brackets
Fixed braces consist of tiny brackets that we attach to your teeth for the duration of your treatment. We control these brackets using a thin archwire, which is held in place by elastic ligatures or clips that are built into the brackets.
You can choose from traditional metal brackets or clear ceramic ones. They both straighten teeth brilliantly and allow us to make precise movements to give you the very best result.
The key difference between clear and metal braces is how they look. Ceramic brackets are crystal-clear and will blend into your smile – they’re very discreet compared to metal braces. They’re not as inconspicuous as Invisalign, but still very subtle.
All our brackets are low-profile with rounded edges for maximum comfort. They will take a few days to get used to, but eventually, your mouth will adapt, and they’ll become the norm.
Colours for every occasion
If your archwire is held in place by elastic ligatures, you can pick your brace colours every time we adjust your braces (approximately every 6–8 weeks).
Subtle options include clear, white, silver or grey. If you’re in the mood for something less subtle, you can choose from our wide array of brightly coloured bands. Pinks, purples and blues are among the most popular choices.
The lighter coloured bands can stain, so bear this in mind if you enjoy highly pigmented foods and drinks like berries and ketchup.
We can even mix and match your brace colours for a different look every time. We love seeing your bright and beautiful combinations, so don’t forget to tag us on Instagram @ortho_by_jackie.
