Dermal fillers are an effective way to enhance the size or shape of your lips. When they’re done well, the results can look amazing – and very natural.

Unfortunately, we’ve all seen examples of lips that have been overfilled, leading to terms like ‘duck lips’ and ‘trout pout’.

Unsurprisingly, this can make some patients wary of lip fillers. Rest assured, in Dr. Jackie Clune’s experienced hands, your lips will look like yours, only better.

How to avoid a ‘trout pout’

Lip fillers usually look unnatural when too much filler is injected. Sometimes, less is more. If it’s your first treatment, we can inject tiny amounts of filler (just 0.5ml) and build up your results over time.

Focusing on volume over shape can also lead to a less desirable outcome. When your lips lose their definition, they start to look less natural. We can use lip fillers to add definition and enhance the shape and symmetry your smile.

Another common mistake is injecting too much filler into the top lip, which can leave you looking unbalanced. The lower lip should always be fuller than the top lip.

Jackie’s experience and attention to detail will avoid these pitfalls and leave your lips looking fabulous.

Top-quality lip fillers

We only use the best quality lip fillers, which have been tried and tested to deliver safe, beautiful results. Juvederm, Belatero and Restylane all use hyaluronic acid to plump lips.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar that we produce to keep our skin hydrated. It attracts water to add instant volume. Your results will last 6–12 months before the filler safely dissolves.

Your lips may appear slightly swollen just after your treatment. This swelling is temporary and should subside within a day or two.

If for any reason you’re not delighted with your result, we can reverse it. We can dissolve hyaluronic acid instantly using an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
